Sue trained in Horticulture at Plumpton College and has worked as a landscape gardener and for ‘Kew Gardens in the country’ at Wakehurst Place near Ardingly. Sue says:

“I started as a volunteer in 1999.   I was recovering from post traumatic stress disorder and depression following a motorcycle accident. I was unemployed.  Getting out in the fresh air, meeting some lovely new people and doing something practical and worthwhile to improve the local area really helped to boost my confidence and sefl-esteem, which at that time were at rock bottom.

Now I’m managing this project.   Sometimes I have to pinch myself, as there was a time when I thought I’d never work again. I’d encourage anyone to come along and get involved.  Volunteering changed my life and it could change yours.”
